
Dora Tharp is the Director, Curriculum Planner and Certified Montessori
Lead Teacher. As of August 1, 2004, Dora has assumed ownership of
Kingwood Day School. American
Montessori Society certified Dora in June 1988. Dora has been involved
in the Montessori method since 1983. She started out as a teacher's
assistant in a Montessori school and earned her Montessori teacher's
certificate in 1988 at the Center for Montessori Teacher's Education in
North Carolina. She then received her director's certification in 1990
and updated it in 1999. Dora Tharp was born and raised in Houston, TX.
She graduated from M. B. Smiley High School in Houston. Dora was married
in 1976. She has one daughter who is married and a niece and nephew. She
now has 2 grandchildren. Her older grandchild attends Kingwood Day
School Montessori.
Cristina Henry
is an Assistant Montessori Teacher and Afternoon Teacher. Cristina
is a native of Germany and has been in the United States for 11 years.
She has completed an Assistant and Paraprofessional Training
course at the Houston Montessori Center for Montessori assistants.
She attended Benedict University, School of Foreign Languages, in
Germany. Cristina worked as a teaching assistant at Solomon Elementary
in Honolulu, Hawaii before moving to Texas. She is fluent in four languages:
English, German, Spanish and French.
Flo Pickard
is the Administrative Assistant. Flo was previously the Director of
a Montessori School for five years. Her Montessori training was
through Montessori Educational Programs International. She
attended Stephen F. Austin University where she majored in Elementary
Education. She is also a certified paralegal. Flo is the mother of two
sons and has two grandsons. She lives in Kingwood with her husband.
